What this check is for

This is a request-only wording review for someone who already has Chinese characters or a short phrase. It looks at the complete expression before the wording is printed, tattooed, published or used in a logo draft. The purpose is to identify language and context risks that a dictionary lookup or automatic translator cannot see.

What the review can catch

  • An incorrect or ambiguous pinyin reading, including polyphonic characters.
  • A character that has the intended dictionary meaning but forms an unnatural phrase.
  • An unintended homophone, slang meaning, dated usage or awkward grammar.
  • Mixed simplified and traditional forms within the same expression.
  • A phrase that is too long, too dense or structurally unclear for the intended size.
  • A cultural or occasion mismatch between the wording and the place it will be used.

What to send

Send the exact Chinese text, the source if you know it, the meaning you intend, where the wording will be used and whether it is simplified or traditional. Add the intended size, material or placement when that affects legibility. You can include a draft image, but keep the message free of passwords, payment details, identity documents and unrelated personal records.

How the review works

The wording is checked as a complete expression rather than as separate dictionary entries. A useful review can explain pronunciation, ordinary meaning, phrase-level meaning, context, script consistency and the limits of the available evidence. It can recommend a next step, but it cannot make the final decision for a tattoo artist, printer, designer, lawyer or brand owner.

Scope limits and exclusions

This is not a long-document translation service, legal translation, trademark clearance, medical advice or a guarantee of luck, safety or success. It does not include a finished logo, illustration, tattoo drawing or physical product unless a separate scope is agreed in writing. A language review reduces risk; it does not guarantee that every viewer will like the result.

Request status and payment

The service is still in preparation and is marked request only. No payment is collected on this site and a message is not yet an order. The final review format, response window, price, refund terms and delivery route must be confirmed before the service is treated as live.

Character / Phrase Check questions

What is the Character / Phrase Check?

It is a request-only review of Chinese characters or a short phrase you already have. It checks pronunciation, phrase meaning, context, script consistency and usage risks.

What should I send for a check?

Send the exact wording, source if known, intended meaning, intended use, simplified or traditional preference and any size or placement context that matters.

Can this service translate a long document?

No. It is designed for characters and short phrases. Long documents, legal texts and technical translations require a separate scope and appropriate specialist review.

Does the check include a finished logo or tattoo design?

No. It reviews the Chinese wording and its context. Finished artwork, illustration, stencils and physical production are not included unless separately agreed.

Is checkout live and can I place an order?

No. The service is still in preparation, the page is request only and no payment is collected. Scope and delivery terms must be confirmed before a request becomes an order.

Scope of the check

Chinese character check and Chinese phrase check: what is reviewed

A Chinese character check reviews an existing character or short phrase for pronunciation, meaning and everyday context before it is used in a design or permanently. The table shows what the review covers and what it does not, so the service is not mistaken for something it is not.

Character / phrase check: what is and is not covered
AspectReviewedLimit
PronunciationPinyin and tone of the character or phraseRegional accents and personal name readings are not resolved.
MeaningCore sense and common compoundsNot a certified translation and not a dictionary entry.
ContextWhether the phrase reads as a greeting, a blessing or an ordinary wordCultural nuance can vary by region and generation.
Permanent-use riskObvious homophone, tone or mixed-script problemsNot a substitute for a tattoo artist or a native reviewer.
Legal or commercial useNot coveredTrademark, copyright and legal review are handled separately.

A Chinese phrase check is a review, not a guarantee. It helps you see pronunciation, meaning and context problems before a decision becomes permanent, and it states clearly what remains a human responsibility.

Questions about the character / phrase check

What is a Chinese character or phrase check?

It is a human review of an existing Chinese character or short phrase for pronunciation, meaning, context and permanent-use risks. It is a check, not a certified translation.

Can the check guarantee a phrase is correct?

No. It reviews pronunciation, meaning and context and flags obvious problems, but cultural nuance and personal readings can vary. A fluent reader should still review anything permanent.

Does the check include trademark or legal review?

No. Trademark, copyright and legal questions are outside the scope and are handled separately, which is why the check states its limits up front.

Can you check wording I found online?

Yes. Send the exact text and where it came from. Online wording is often incomplete or detached from its source, so the review explains what the phrase changes when it is used on its own.

What if the wording is already printed or tattooed?

The check can still explain the meaning, reading and any mismatch. It cannot undo a decision, but it gives you an accurate description of what the existing text says.

Do you check Japanese or Korean?

No. This review covers Chinese characters and short Chinese phrases. Japanese and Korean wording needs a reviewer with the relevant language background.

What gets checked

The five problems a wording check looks for

Most risky Chinese wording is not obviously wrong. It looks reasonable, translates cleanly and only fails when a fluent reader sees the whole phrase in context. A check works through five recurring problems.

  • Wrong character for the sound. English romanisation hides the character. “Xin” can be 心 (heart), 新 (new), 信 (trust) or 欣 (joy); the phrase is only correct once the exact character is confirmed.
  • Mixed script systems. A phrase that begins in simplified characters and ends in traditional forms reads as an inconsistency, even when each character is individually correct.
  • Wrong reading or tone. Some characters have several readings, and the intended meaning may not use the common one. A single character can also change meaning when a compound is shortened.
  • Register and context. A phrase that is poetic in a poem can sound commercial, dated or formal when printed on a product. Cultural references do not always travel.
  • Permanent-use risk. For a tattoo, logo or print, mirroring, rotation, crowding and small-size legibility are checked before the wording is treated as final.

Worked examples that look fine but are not

A short English gloss such as “strength” can map to 力 (force), 强 (strong), 力量 (power) or 坚强 (resolute). Each is a real word, but they are not interchangeable, and only one fits a given sentence. Similarly, a character chosen for its dictionary meaning can combine with the next character into an existing word with a different or unwanted sense. The check does not simply confirm that each character means something positive; it confirms that the complete text says what the brief intends.

What to send, and what not to send

Send the exact Chinese text, where it will appear, the intended meaning, the script preference, and any size or placement context. A photo of a draft design is useful. Do not send identity documents, payment details, passwords or other sensitive records; they are not needed for a wording review. The service is designed for characters and short phrases — not long documents, legal texts or technical translations, which need a separate scope and appropriate specialist review.
