Mandarin Ink is a personal reference project that explains Chinese characters, names, blessings and classical phrases for English-speaking readers.

What this project is

An independent educational project focused on one narrow question: how can an English-speaking reader choose and use Chinese words with more context? Dictionary facts, language usage, cultural interpretation and design advice are kept separate.

How content is made

Character facts begin with public reference datasets. Wording and usage are checked for real-world context. Design pages explain scale, script, orientation and common mistakes. Final wording should still be reviewed before permanent use.

What this project does not claim

It is not a translation agency, legal naming authority or tattoo studio.
It does not guarantee luck, wealth, health, love, protection or personality change.
It does not present every reading of a classical text as settled.
It does not publish fake reviews, sales figures or author credentials.

Editorial workflow

Each reference page starts with a narrow question, gathers the relevant character or phrase data, writes a direct answer and then separates dictionary facts, usage notes and design advice. A page is not published as final until its source, pronunciation, examples and limitations have been reviewed together.

Corrections and ownership

When a reader reports an error, the page is checked against the source and revised if necessary. The visible review date is updated rather than hidden, and corrections that affect a design or product should be communicated to the affected customer. The project does not present itself as a government authority, university or professional licensing body.

What readers should do next

Use the reference pages to understand a direction, then ask a native reader to check the complete wording before a permanent or commercial use. If the answer depends on a family, market or regional context, more than one reader may be needed.
